WHY I LEFT MILLERS FOR SIMPLY

Well, I might as well put it simply, I longed for consistent color accuracy and outstanding customer service!

Our professional labs should provide that, right?  It seems easy enough.

I have been a Millers customer for a long time now, but when I learned about Simply Canvas, and their “digital bleed” wrap around for gallery wrapped canvases, I was excited!  I no longer had to shoot for a canvas leaving tons of room for the wrap around!  Score, right?  I could shoot every photo the same way, how I wanted it composed for both print and canvas.  I made a large order using their new customer discount (which is great btw), and have never looked back.  Having the huge beautiful canvases in my office for samples quickly made them by biggest seller, and I was done for … head over heels in love!  Their canvases are stunning, color ALWAYS spot on, and best of all, I have never had to deal with re-printing!   EVER.  I even get sweet little hand written notes in the mail from the Simply staff – now that is amazing customer service!

Anyway, all that was great, but I still needed a lab for prints and press, so I stayed with Millers for that, and I will say, I was some-what happy with them.  Their turn around time is amazing, but I did have to have things re-printed from time to time, because the color was off.  Sometimes I would forget to un-check the “auto color correct” and my prints would come back way off :(  But, overall, they weren’t a bad company or anything.

So, more time went by, and I started to hear that Simply planned on opening a prints/press side, Simply Color Lab!  I was so thrilled, and as soon as they launched I used their new customer discount to order all kinds of samples.  They took a little longer than I would have liked, of course, I was used to Millers’ turn around time, but when they arrived I was stunned!  They were AMAZING!  Their color was DEAD-ON, on every single sample, and, once again, I fell head over heels for Simply!

Now, I will be honest for a second, I have cheated on them a few times, when I needed something in my hand like yesterday, but it did not come without punishment :(  I guess that is what I get huh?  haha  As time has passed I have come to realize that I wasn’t truly happy with Millers.  They “wooed” me with their free overnight shipping and quick quick quick delivery, but  I started needed re-printing more and more through them, because lets be honest, once you have seen your photos printed in the best possible way, anything, even good, will look bad right?   I have also realized that it isn’t worth the hassle to get my prints/products sooner, I would way rather have them look amazing!  And by the time I got my re-prints, my Simply prints would have arrived anyway!

Both cards here have the same exact TAN digital paper for the background, you can see here the print from Millers came back green, but you can only kind of see it here, in person it is much worse :(  I had two things printed through Millers with the same digital paper bg, and they both were delivered extremely green, so I had them re-printed, and I have no idea how this worked out, but one set of cards was re-printed better, but still green, and the other set was re-printed the same as before, extremely green.  How does that even make sense?  It’s the same TAN digital paper, there should be no green in the first place, but if it is printed that way, it should at least be consistent throughout the entire order, right? Asking someone I know from https://www.littleprint.com.au about this and they are also stumped. There’s probably a logical explanation to this but we just haven’t found it yet. I know that in the end everything will be fine.

So, I just wanted to share, you know when you find something amazing you want to tell the world, so that’s what I am doing here.

HELLO WORLD …. SIMPLY IS … SIMPLY AMAZING!

(Also, Simply did not ask me to post this, they have no idea that I am, it is just a little food for thought that I wanted to share, for all the other photogs out there, and I hope it helps you avoid the hassle of re-printing!)

Hope this helps :)
