{Photo Editing Fun} – Round Rock photographer

Hi everyone!

I have never done the Fix It Friday with I Heart Faces, but I thought it might be fun to start jumping in and then share what I did to the photo in photoshop here :)

Whenever I participate I promise to do something different and fun, not just my normal editing, so hopefully you can all learn something fun and new as well :)

So, this was the original photo they gave us today ….

And here is my take for the week, the photo just has that feeling to me, like it’s begging for that fairytale kinda look, maybe it’s the woods, I don’t know for sure, maybe the lady’s sweet face, but I thought it would be great for this edit …

So, here’s how to get this “fairytale” look with pp, I used CS5

First I opened the photo in RAW to warm it up a little, then in CS5 I made my usual edits, a little curves, hue/sat, and brightness/cont, then I removed that middle branch, then cropped to 5×7.

Flatten and save.  Then,

Duplicate the layer (ctrl J)

Filter – Blur – Gaussian blur about 50px (every photo will be different here, depending on it’s size) so play with it a little on your photo, but go to just about that point where you cant see any features or anything like that, about here ….

Image – Adjustments – Hue/sat – check the “colorize” box, then hue 36, sat 25, lightness 0

Then adjust the layer blending mode from normal to “Multiply” and use your layer opacity to taste, for this photo I left it at 100%

Then flatten, and if your photo looks too dark to you, you can duplicate layer again, and set that layer blending mode to “Screen” then adjust the opacity of that layer to taste as well.  I did use this step on this photo, and set the screen layer to 10% opacity

Then flatten and save :)

Hope you learned something cool, I’ve always loved this little effect for woodsy type photos, especially little girls in tutu’s and what-not :)

HAPPY FRIDAY!
